Little Red Monkey

Today it has been raining all day. Never mind.
Isla has been more than entertained dancing around to Little Red Monkey.

Oh Comely

I recently subscribed to Oh Comely magazine. I love it.
It's full of interesting, not-too-wordy
articles on music, art, craft, fashion and life.
There is a quiet, calm, uncluttered feel to the whole publication.

They've asked Folksy sellers to submit work
with the theme "Every item tells a story".

This is what I submitted.

It's called "Some Lived.... Some Died"
An original illustration, hand-painted on
mouth-blown glass and kiln-fired, then
mounted in a lead frame.

Pinterest

I'm spending far too much time on Pinterest at the moment.
It is strangely satisfying to put all those images that have
been floating around my head in to some kind of order.

You can only join by invite currently.
I have some available, just let me know your email.

(Images from here, here and here.)

Cosy

Melvin is the first to get a jolly Fair Isle jumper
to keep him cosy as the nights draw in....

Office

Now we've gone all retro in the telephone department,
I was pleased to come across some other
vintage office accessories at the weekend.

Chunky, clunky, Post-Office-red hole punch.

Sliding drawers - love those handles.
My paints fit inside perfectly...
Oh the joy of neatly organised paints!

And a heavy iron goat. It's a paperweight of course.
For all those pesky bits of paper that need, um, weighting.

Stuff

I seem to have too many things half-finished in the workshop at the moment. Have to keep writing lists to keep my head focussed. Now I have a bit more time in there I'm like a kid in a sweet shop, not sure what to do first. Most important is a collection of birds, trees and elephants for the Rostra and Rooksmoor Galleries in Bath. I am super excited to have been invited to show here, in the company of some of my favourite artists.

The Paper Cinema

We saw an exhibition by The Paper Cinema at the weekend. Beautifully detailed illustrations mounted on the back of cereal boxes become 2-dimensional puppets. So clever. So much fun. This is how it looks in action:

We're hoping to catch their dusktime performance in a disused quarry at Worth Matravers, accompanied by a Finnish accordian player next week (bats permitting, apparently). Full details here.

September. Brought to you by Mustard Yellow.

So far this week I have been:

Toying with buying this simple yet incredibly gorgeous bakelite necklace from Etsy. Too late alas, it has now sold.

snooping around Bridport Open Studios and
buying prints from Paul Blow...

...and putting them up in my kitchen
(yes of course I arranged my tinned goods to match)

opening a Wasp Cafe (they are really abusing the drink-all-you-like policy though)

and helping Nelly with her new line in dress-up-paper-dolls.
