8 Tracks / 2 New Things

I really need to sort out my music situation.  I've moved with the times regarding social media, but somehow the world of Internet Music is still a mystery to me.

In a bid to expand the rotating list of tunes in my workshop (namely, this playlist - which is absolutely gorgeous, but I've played it to death), I've put 8Tracks on my iPod.

But how do I find the good stuff?  Any recommendations?  My tastes are folky, laidback stuff - Iron & Wine, Laura Veirs, Bon Iver - that kind of thing.

We've put a couple of new things in The Pocket Money Shop.  This bold and groovy tiger which is an A4 print on archival paper, ready for framing.

And this sweet little card, perfect for sending to someone you'd like to say sorry to and make-up with (because when you're 9, that's kind of a daily occurrence).

Both available on Etsy now.

Little Red Monkey

Today it has been raining all day. Never mind.
Isla has been more than entertained dancing around to Little Red Monkey.

Finishing up and heading off...

My workshop is literally bursting at the seams with the huge pile of finished windows waiting to be fitted. I think there's about 17 panels in there all in all - barely room for myself now! I'm just trying to arrange fitting half of them tomorrow, then once that's out the way, I'm in holiday mode. This weekend I'm up to London (for a hen night - but a very tasteful one - no L plates of bridal veils) then on Wednesday we are off to Rhodes for a week (first family holiday since, erm, er, ever!)

So this is constantly plyaing in my head at the moment!

On a completely unrelated subject, I'm very excited about this. I'm a big fan of the kooky crazy quirky world of Sarah Neuburger so I'm really delighted about her collaboration with Chronicle Books to create these little funsters:

Available now from you know where...

Work not in progress.....

Drat! Isla seems to have decided that now she is (a week away from turning) 2, she no longer needs her afternoon nap. Hmmmm, how on earth does she expect me to get any work (read: blogging) done?

As a result, my flock of birds which I was so close to finishing, have stalled a bit...but they will be up in the shop soon!

I did a bona-fide afternoon's work on Friday, a bit of freelance work for another local stained glass company. They have a vast amount of 1960s church windows which need refurbishing, so I'm doing a bit here and there for them. Felt quite odd working on large heavy windows again having spent the last little while tinkering about with small-scale pieces, but nice to be getting my hands properly dirty again.

The rest of the weekend was magnificent, with aunts and grandmas and nieces and nephews to stay - so there was much beach action, along with camp-fire sing-songs, carboot sales and lots of lovely cake.

But this was the real highlight of the weekend:

In fact, it was "Oliver James" that really took the biscuit, but couldn't find any footage of that.

Beautiful Music

Went to see such an amazing band last night - Po' Girl (Allison Russell and Awna Teixeira). Their voices are so perfect together. This is taken from their website, and pretty much sums them up:

"...like genuine gypsies, these two wander and play. They move and move and play and sing. It's quite simple. Always restless, more often than not bone-tired, they write their flashes of sadness, their loss, their good love, their faint dreams of home into songs that matter deeply to them. Like any good art, they are little acts of self-rescue...and who couldn't use a little rescuing these days? "

To hear "Deer in the Night" - one of the most beautiful songs you might ever hear - and find out more, visit their site.

Every Day in May

Sunday's artist is Catrin Jones, for this incredible Welsh Quilt window at Maelor Hospital, Wrexham. I do love a quilt, so a stained glass one is a double joy.

Tuesday - Danielle Hopkinson.... plus the soundtrack to our summer...

Right. This is just so gorgeous and lovely and it's got birds on it and pretty patterns and everything and I wish I had made it. There. Can't say fairer than that really.... By Suffolk-based artist Danielle Hopkinson.

I also feel that the lobster is a much under-used theme in stained glass....

On Sunday night we went to a party/private view of illustrator Paul Blow. His work is so cool and also everso slightly unsettling. I do think we need one of his paintings in our house actually.

Lastly, this is the CD we will mostly be listening to this Summer. Jaunty, quirky, oddball pop. Sung through an oxygen mask.

The video is pretty cool too:
