Contemporary Stained Glass Flying Birds in Stock

Due to a clerical error (mine) I have two flying birds in stock and ready to send.

They were ordered as part of a set of 4 for a family (only I got the colours wrong). (Okay, and the pattern). (Well, ok, and the eyes should have been open).* I blame the Easter holidays.**

Anyhow, they are very lovely and as they are facing each other would make a gorgeous wedding/engagement/anniversary gift.  Or of course they are available separately.

*I'm not usually this scatty, honestly.

**And my handwriting.

Miniature Stained Glass Window Installed in a Dolls House

Funny how serendipitous the world wide web can be isn't it.  Just a few days after watching Arrietty, my head still full of teeny kitchens and bedrooms, I received an interesting email from Brae Oktober asking if I would give permission for one of my stained glass windows to be miniaturised and printed on acetate to be used in a doll's house project.  And what an amazing project.  This has to be one of the most beautiful doll's houses I've ever seen - the attention to detail is astounding.

This last shot shows the exterior - look at that paintwork!  The moss on the tiles!  The leaves in the porch!  The house is based on Brae's childhood home, which looks equally stunning.  You can see more pictures and follow the progress of the house here.

Smoky Tea

What do you do on a Sunday when the weather can't make up its mind?  Up to the bluebell woods for smoky tea of course!

Storm Kettles available from here.

Pink & Yellow

I remember finding pink and yellow such a yucky colour combination when I was little. Now I find myself seeking it out. If only "true" pink glass wasn't so very very expensive (it's made with gold!) I'd use it all the time.

I bought these bookshelves today. They're very tatty, but I couldn't resist the pigeon holes. How silly.

We are enjoying reading these books - a guilty pleasure.

Last weekend we watched Arrietty which was shown as part of the Bridport Film Festival - From Page to Screen. It was glorious. I want to watch it again and again and again.

P.S. Thanks for the nice words about my Spring/Autumn panels. You're all lovely.

Spring & Autumn - Contemporary Stained Glass Door Panels

Lovely to see the windows in-situe today with the sunlight streaming through them.

The doors lead to two girls' bedrooms - the elder daughter was born in October and the younger daughter has a May birthday - hence the Autumn/Spring theme.

We discussed various options for the subject matter and in the end Lisa chose a couple of my existing designs which would be worked into full size panels.

I wanted the windows to look a bit like picture book illustrations (both girls had already chosen Quentin Blake fabric for their curtains) and the colours tie-in with those in the rooms.

You can just about see how amazing the views from the bedrooms are - across the rolling fields and out to sea.  While I was there today, the colour of the sea flitted from turquoise to green to grey to indigo as the weather changed from sunshine to storms.  Stunning.

Contemporary Stained Glass Commission - Sneak Peek

Couldn't resist from posting a cheeky peek at one of the panels from my latest commission which I delivered today.  I'm going back on Tuesday so will take some better photos then, when they have been fitted.

The house they are going in is utterly jaw dropping - eco-modernist, elliptical, larch-clad, amazing views over the rolling hills to the sea, kind of green-with-envy making really, although I know how hard the owners have worked to get it from start to completion.  I could make windows for houses like this all day long!

Randomness

Been a busy old week - visiting best friends in Bristol... long lazy days at the beach... impromptu family reunions around the kitchen table with never ending mugs of coffee... tidying and sorting.  Squeezed a bit of work in too.

I liked this French stock cube tin at my friend's house
(but I think she may have thought me bonkers for snapping it)

We've scoffed a fair few of these lately.

Work in progress on my current commission.

And in case you were wondering (I'm sure you were) I haven't heard back from my mystery caller from the last post.  Yet.
