I remember finding pink and yellow such a yucky colour combination when I was little. Now I find myself seeking it out. If only "true" pink glass wasn't so very very expensive (it's made with gold!) I'd use it all the time.
I bought these bookshelves today. They're very tatty, but I couldn't resist the pigeon holes. How silly.
We are enjoying reading these books - a guilty pleasure.
Last weekend we watched Arrietty which was shown as part of the Bridport Film Festival - From Page to Screen. It was glorious. I want to watch it again and again and again.
P.S. Thanks for the nice words about my Spring/Autumn panels. You're all lovely.

Ah, nostalgia. I had that very same much-read pink book, and now I have a pink and yellow kitchen that your former self would scorn.
ReplyDeleteI'm hooked on the naughtiest girl. I read the St Clare's and Mallory Towers when i was a kid, but never knew about the mischievous Elizabeth Allen with the merry eyes!
DeleteThe bookshelves are wonderful, and tattyness can always be sorted out if it bothers you (I like the 'pre-loved' look!).
ReplyDeleteI have recently been having the same thing with pink and yellow - isn't it weird how sometimes the thing you thought was vile can become so attractive?!
Thanks for reminding me about Arrietty, I haven't seen it yet but I adore Miyazaki so will watch it asap. My sister lived in Japan for 2 years, we went to visit and while we were there we went to the Miyazaki museum, it's the most beautiful museum I've ever been in - and it has loads of stained glass windows based on animation cells from Totoro! Magical. :)
I'm very jealous - I'd love to go there. I've seen images of some of the windows but would love to see them in the museum.
Deletelove pink & yellow. i think those shelves will be lovely with a bit of tlc. a pop of colour maybe? x
