8 Tracks / 2 New Things

I really need to sort out my music situation.  I've moved with the times regarding social media, but somehow the world of Internet Music is still a mystery to me.

In a bid to expand the rotating list of tunes in my workshop (namely, this playlist - which is absolutely gorgeous, but I've played it to death), I've put 8Tracks on my iPod.

But how do I find the good stuff?  Any recommendations?  My tastes are folky, laidback stuff - Iron & Wine, Laura Veirs, Bon Iver - that kind of thing.

We've put a couple of new things in The Pocket Money Shop.  This bold and groovy tiger which is an A4 print on archival paper, ready for framing.

And this sweet little card, perfect for sending to someone you'd like to say sorry to and make-up with (because when you're 9, that's kind of a daily occurrence).

Both available on Etsy now.

  1. Flora, how have I missed Nell's pocket money shop!? I've just bought the boy in the dungarees. I love boys in dungarees, my two have grown out of theirs, sob. Rufus would love to adopt a snow leopard, I am told every time he sees the advert, time is running out mummy! (the guilt!). I might join in with this if you don't mind... Rufus produces masses of pics. x

  2. Oh and as for music. Listen to the Folk radio on Spotify, loads of inspiration. xx

  3. sounds like a job for the good doctor - i'm on it. i'll create an 8track playlist for you later. it'll be tough as, despite what you think, you have already got a pretty comprehensive music library...and you can never have enough Serge Gainsbourg, Slade or the Cockney Rebel anyway...?

    1. Thanks Doctor, I would love that. I might even make a playlist myself, what fun!

  4. Spotify. It's painfully linked to soshal meedia so that every time you listed to a song it tells facebook and facebook tells everyone (you can turn that off), but it does mean that you can find other people's playlists which are often good. The Boy swears by last fm, which is a radio station website where you type in an artist that you like and it plays you artists that it thinks are similar. As you listen you can ban songs you don't like and 'like' songs you do like and as you do that it builds up more of a picture of your tastes, it's pretty good.

    1. Oh yes, I forgot about LastFm - I actually got on with that pretty well and it is good the way it works out what you like - but the number of tracks by each artist is quite limited (maybe I need to upgrade to the paid version) I always have it on when I do my annual accounts, keeps me almost sane.

    2. I think if you switch spotify to 'private session' (which sounds a bit rude) it doesn't post to facebook.
i am liking a bit of Adam Green & Binki Shapiro at the mo. Very Nancy & Lee if you like that kind of thing. Plus she's called Binki Shapiro for god's sake! I might change my name. x
