Spring Girl

This seems to have taken forever to finish. I don't know why. Perhaps I should have chosen a less labour-intensive medium in which to work. Regardless, I am so pleased with the glass colours and textures together - most Springsome indeed. And I'd like a cute blouse like that too.

Made from a combination of recycled kiln-flattened bottles, vintage and scrap glass (well, glass left over from bigger projects that is just too lovely to throw away, but too small to be of much use!), this panel will be exhibited in Camden as part of the Folksy/Sue Ryder competition winners show. I don't have a firm date yet, but it's looking likely to be April. I'll have some smaller items available for sale as well.

  1. She is really pretty. I love her stripy tights and little turned in feet - they remind me of my Islay's!

I hope the show goes well. Will be interesting to hear about it. Juliex

  3. Is that a cloud Flora? I think it is and you know how I love a good cloud. Just lovely and the colours are just perfect for the weather here today. Everything is aglow. Lx

  5. She's lovely - though that word's not quite adequate. Is she a companion piece to your wintery 'We go to the playground in wintertime'? which I thought was beautiful.

    Will 'Summer' and 'Autumn' follow?

  6. Her name is Daisy, right? It's such a wholesome daisy-evocative piece of stained glass. I imagine her in the window of an old rectory, waving to her little stained glass friend across the road. V charming indeed.

  8. So cute, stylish and very retro- she is going to be the star of the Camden show. I'm so impressed that you can achieve that gorgeous sepia effect with the colours- it's fantastic.

  10. will you make another one for the summer and a last one in autumn ? Is it an original drawing? or an adaptation, it as such a retro feel... good luck for the contest :-)!

  11. Hi Ribambins - thanks for your nice comments...yes, it is an original design made by my own fair hand! As to whether I'll make further versions, hmmm, not sure yet. I'll see if there is any demand first!
