1930s Stained Glass Door Panel with Contemporary Twist

I fitted this panel last week in a kitchen door in a 1930s house in Dorchester.  I designed the window to sit comfortably alongside the existing front door panel (below) without competing with it and the glass was chosen to be as close a match as possible.

Originally, the flower in the middle of the kitchen door panel was going to be the same as those in the front door, but the client asked if it might be possible to reference the classic Orla Kiely flower.

I was delighted to be able to make a little homage to Orla, whose designs I have been a fan of for a very long time.

  1. I love it! Gorgeous, and works really well with the front door. Perfect amount of 'Orlaness' to the flower! x
