Pets
We have been deliberating for a long time about getting a pet. The girls were desperate. I wasn't keen - I could see it just meant more work and cleaning and worrying. And the only pet I really like is out of the question as Mike is allergic to cats.
But then my sister discovered that a farm cat had had a litter of kittens at the end of her garden, and they were living in her shed.
It hadn't occurred to me that a cat could live in a shed.
At the same time, our garden had developed an embarrassing rat problem (compost bin to blame). It didn't take long to do the maths.
So now we have two utterly adorable kittens living in our shed. There is a bit of work and cleaning and quite a lot of worrying about them. But mostly there is sitting and watching them, and trying to tame them a bit, and the occasional and very satisfying purr.

Hello you too. :~}
ReplyDeleteWho is the cat in the top picture? It looks amazingly like Marlene used to when he was teeny tiny. It's really beautiful. Silver tabby... well handsome.
Love your "Catty" Pinterest comment. You're a step ahead of me...cats outside and allergic husband inside. Phizmiz just had to put up with the worst allergic reactions until he became immune. Which = happy wife and children, miserable husband and slightly smirking/blushing/sniggering wife...
Ahem... xx
P.S. Your share button here isn't working for this post...was going to share a la twitter.
Oh...I'm not Ergo Phizmiz. I'm blummin' Martha Moopette. He gawn and signed me out and signed 'imself back in! Baah!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was odd of Dom to comment! Just been out in the moonlit shed having a very sweet time with the kittehs. I luffs them. Yeah, top cat is v. handsome and quite the charmer, bottom cat a bit more nervous and skittish, but I like his mexican wrestler mask face :)
DeleteThose two are so gorgeous bet your lovely girls are delighted to have them to play with. Mother in law controlled her cat allergy with a special air filter that her vet told her about. We have two little rescue girl cats and they are so friendly and good company. Karen x
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds interesting, will look into it, thanks for the tip. It would be quite nice to have them curled up by the fire one day...
DeleteOh Flora, these are gorgeous! How lucky you all are...I would love to have a cat :) They are very cute indeed. And a wonderful idea to have there home in the shed as I'm sure its cosy in there :) Enjoy them, your all very lucky :) xxx
ReplyDeleteYou can keep cats in a shed? Interesting. The husband is allergic, apparently. I think he just doesn't want us to get a pet.
ReplyDeleteWell, I say "keep". What basically happens is we feed them in there, but at the moment, since we gave them the freedom to roam the garden, we hardly see them at all.
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about them living in a shed either! What a good idea to the allergy problem, they are adorable!
ReplyDeleteJess xx
oh flora. i'm not really a cat person (at all!) but the boys are desperate for a cat. i'm starting to think about it...but a bit worried. what if i don't like it, then i'm stuck with it! x
ReplyDeleteBut they're lovely! So soft of fur and elegant and affectionate, without being all needy. And they purr! Purring is the best thing ever.
DeleteOh I would so love a cat but eldest is severely allergic (told never to make friends with fur) :(
ReplyDeleteHowever, we have a lovely shed and I hadn't thought of 'outside' cats.......
I'll keep you informed on cat-allergy husboyfriends's progress. So far, so good.
Deletewelcome Otto and Jammy Dodger- I hope they grow up to be fantastic ratters!
ReplyDeleteOh they are lovely!! I love cats, but we have now entered dog world and that's fun too, so far...well done for thinking of the shed idea, I'm sure they'll be very happy there! xx
